Aluminium Walking Zimmer Frame

The Drive Domestic Walker is a rigid, aluminium walking frame with 4 sturdy legs. These frames are also known as Zimmer frames, standard walking or pulpit frames, and are mainly used indoors to enhance independent mobility. As walking frames have more points of contact with the floor they are suited to those with weaker legs and/or greater balance problems. Walkers offer more support than walking sticks, redistributing weight from the legs to the arms to reduce leg pain and support the entire body.

The Drive Domestic Walker features rubber ferrules on the bottom of all four of the legs, which prevent the frame from slipping. Walking frames are useful because they provide a large area of support, but they do not allow the user to walk using a flowing pattern. This means that they may not be suitable for you if you get tired quickly or have difficulty starting movements. These frames are well suited to those with balance issues or reduced weight-bearing ability. They are an excellent support during rehabilitation, while standing or for those that simply require reduced pressure on their legs.
